Minnetonka, Minnesota — The Lord peacefully called his faithful servant, Rev. Lowell Reinking, home to the Church Triumphant on Saturday, May 31, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born on July 22, 1923, to Alfred and Bertha Reinking in Osseo, Minnesota. After attending high school in Osseo he furthered his secondary education at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. From Naperville he was called to fill an emergency pastoral vacancy in Tenney, Minnesota. He then returned to complete his undergraduate work at Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa and then entered into his formal ministerial training at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.
Reverend Reinking served the Lord through his full-time ministry in Methodist Church for over 60 years in congregations throughout Minnesota, including Tenney and Middle Creek, Slayton, Richfield, New Ulm, and Worthington. He retired from his official ministerial duties in 2004 at the age of 81.
Reverend Reinking is preceded in death by daughter, Shari Rusk and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alta; daughters, Pam (Dan) Alwin, Rochester, MN and Michelle (Paul) Wessel, Delano, MN; and son, Phil (Yong) Reinking, St. Louis Park, MN; and son-in-law, Gary Rusk, Sunrise, AZ; grandchildren, Ericca Rusk Johns, Josh and Wade Rusk, Brenna Alwin Scanlon, Alyssa Alwin Leepers, Caleb Alwin, Oliver, Mackenzie, Conner, Simon Dykstra; and four great-grandchildren, Kara and Kate Johns, Wesley and Paisley Scanlon.
A worship service of celebration will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 408 11th Street in Worthington, MN, on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at 1 p.m. There will be visitation prior to the service beginning at noon..
