NEW ULM — Linda Frederickson thought it was a late Mother’s Day gift when she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and balloons at home Monday afternoon.

Hy-Vee store manager Bill Kittler brought the bouquet and three sealed envelopes containing prizes in the 2008 Hy-Vee Triathlon game now going on at Hy-Vee stores.

A winning game piece triggered the opportunity for Frederickson to win one of three prizes — $1,500 in Hy-Vee gift cards, $5,000 in cash or $2,500 in travel vouchers.

She chose the envelope that awarded her the $1,500 in in Hy-Vee Gift Cards.

Frederickson, a former 3M employee, and her husband Gary were excited about their winnings.

“It’s hers. She does the shopping She’s tickled pink. It’s always nice to win something, especially after you’re retired,” said Gary Frederickson, who worked for 3M.

Weekly winners have the chance to win one of three Lexus Hybrid Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) at the 2008 Hy-Vee Triathlon event in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 22.
