Visitation will be at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield on Wednesday, May 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN.
Service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. The Clergy will be Chaplain Mary Pauluk.
Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield, MN.

Harold Edward Wendt was born on May 31, 1912 in Burnstown Township, Brown County, MN, the son of Henry and Anna (Lohrenz) Wendt. Harold attended parochial school and country school. He was baptized on July 14, 1912 and confirmed on March 28, 1926 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, MN. On March 5, 1935 he was united in marriage to Viola Rogotzke at the parsonage of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Harold was a lifetime resident of Burnstown Township where he farmed until the mid-1970s. He raised seed corn for Trojan for 23 years. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he taught Bible School for many years. Harold also volunteered for the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery Board and was a two-term member of St. John Lutheran Home where he served as treasurer. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling to all 50 states, and gardening.
He is survived by his children, Harold “Bud” and wife Marlys Wendt of Springfield and Marilyn and husband Robert Kratz of Springfield; 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, Kevin and special friend Ann Wersal and his children Melissa Honl, Travis and Cody Wendt; Randy and wife Elizabeth Wendt and their children Joseph, Emily, Courtney, and Brayden; Carla and husband Clyde Moret and their children Kylie, Kelsey, and Adam; Craig and wife Darla Wendt and their children Andrew and Abby; Vicky Sellner and special friend Tom Hillesheim and her children Paul Evers, Jennifer, Melanie, and Anna Sellner; Rhonda and husband Rod Larson and their children Tyler, Alex, and Ashley; Kari and husband Brad Haugo and their children Sara and Justin; Kurt and wife Jan Kratz and their children Tiffany Trapp, Amanda and Nickolas; and Keith Kratz and friend Terry Bruckner; and one great-great-grandson Parker Honl.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years Viola; a granddaughter Jody; sisters, Leona Haseleu and Anna Cunningham; and brothers, Aaron, Albert, Henry, Erwin, and Clarence.
