SLEEPY EYE - Flavia Mary (Bertrand) Larson, age 88, of Sleepy Eye, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. There will be a parish prayer service at 5 p.m, and a VFW Auxiliary service at 6 p.m, both on Friday, and a Christian Mothers rosary at 9 a.m. Saturday, all at the funeral home.

Flavia Mary Larson was born on February 7, 1920 in Sleepy Eye, the second child of Lucian “Butch” and Anna (Schueller) Bertrand. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1938 and began working as a secretary for the newly formed Brown County R.E.A., a position she held in a full or part-time capacity until 1976. Flavia was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. She married Dennis Lynnea Larson on Feb. 7, 1948 at St. Mary’s Rectory. She was a member of the Auxiliaries of the V.F.W. Post 800, American Legion Post 7, Divine Providence Community Home and the Christian Mothers. She was an active member of the Sleepy Eye Golf Club since 1960. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards, and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Flavia is survived by a daughter, Maxine and Mo Yarnold and a son, Tom, both of Sleepy Eye; granddaughters, Tami and James Gray, Stacy Cowan, Laura and Jamie Taylor and Margie Yarnold; great-grandchildren, Patrick, Dylan, Alexis, Gavin and Kyah; sister-in-law, Sally Peterson of Savage and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Lynnea (2002); sister, Vita Schmidt (2001); and brother, Medard Bertrand (2004).
