Perry served during World War II for nearly four years from 1942 - 1945. He made the initial landing with his troops in Sicily, Salerno, and Anzio, Italy and in southern France. On September 6, 1949, Perry was united in marriage to Marion Windschitl in Leavenworth. Perry farmed with his brother Eddie until retirement and also did custom farm work. His pride and joy was keeping up his farm yard which he used for miniature golf. He served as treasurer on the board of the Rural School District 70, as treasurer for the Mulligan Township for 30 years and as treasurer of the St. Joseph Catholic Aid Society for 20 years. Perry was also a dedicated blood donor and received his 5-gallon pin. He was a member of the Springfield Knights of Columbus, the Holy Catholic Aid Society in Leavenworth, the VFW and was a baseball pitcher for the Leavenworth Orioles. Perry's hobbies included fishing, golfing, bowling, wood working — especially making projects for family; he learned to be a carpenter from his dad.
