Daycare owners try to stop gun range next door

February 7, 2014
Associated Press

RAMSEY, Minn. (AP) — Operators of a daycare center in Anoka County fear they will lose business if a gun range is allowed to open next door.

Little Me Childcare in Ramsey is located next to a vacant building. A company called Total Defense wants to open 10 shooting lanes inside the building. The shooting range has already passed the planning commission and final approval could come from the City Council Tuesday.

Childcare co-owners Amber Brick and Jessica Bachman have started a petition drive to try to stop Total Defense from opening next door. Brick tells WCCO-TV (http://cbsloc.al/MxarbJ ) that some of her customers say they will send their children elsewhere if the gun range opens.

The owners of Total Defense say they will build an additional 8-inch thick wall inside of the building for safety.
