AUSTIN, Minn. (AP) — A man who sued Austin police accusing them of shocking him with a stun gun two years ago while he was suffering a seizure has died.

An Albert Lea Tribune report ( ) says 51-year-old Scott Sheeley of Vadnais Heights died earlier this month. The cause of death isn't immediately known, and autopsy results haven't been released.

Sheeley's relatives say they still plan to pursue the lawsuit against police and the city of Austin. They're seeking $1.5 million in medical fees, attorney costs and emotional damages.

Officers responded in Nov. 2011 to a call of medical distress because Sheeley was having a seizure. The lawsuit alleges that officers handcuffed Sheeley and shocked him several times.

Austin police have said Sheeley became violent when officers arrived.
