SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says 15 people who commute from Sioux Falls to Worthington, Minn., for work in a meatpacking planned were injured Thursday when the van rolled into an interstate median.
The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/1d3sQp4 ) that four of the passengers suffered serious injuries when the Chevy Express van hit an icy patch on Interstate 90 near Worthington about 1:40 a.m.
JBS human resources director Jenny Andersen-Martinez says the 15 people all work for the plant but commute in a personal vehicle from Sioux Falls because of a housing shortage. She says their shift ended about 1 a.m. Thursday.
The patrol says 13 people passengers were thrown from the van, but the driver and front seat passenger remained inside the vehicle after the crash.
