ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A St. Paul architectural historian is leading an effort to preserve part of the old Ford plant that's being demolished in the Highland Park neighborhood.
The auto plant opened in 1925 and made Model T cars. Ford employed thousands of Minnesotans over the decades.
Brian McMahon wants to save a portion of the property that once housed the corporate offices and a showroom. McMahon says the city should properly acknowledge the plant's long heritage. He has formed a group "Save Our Ford Heritage Committee."
Ford issued a statement to KSTP-TV (http://bit.ly/1fF0DIC ), saying demolition of the plant continues to move forward.
