UK princes turn traders for Sept 11 charity day

September 11, 2013
Associated Press

LONDON (AP) — British princes William and Harry have turned temporary stock traders, participating in a charity event to honor victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Assisted by professional traders, the royals took to the phones for an hour Wednesday to broker deals, including one valued at 25 billion euros ($33 billion).

They also found time to joke around. Harry accused his older brother, the father of 2-month-old Prince George, of indulging in "baby chat" rather than sealing the deal.

Pilot William conceded: "I'm much better at helicopters."

The event was run by BGC Partners, which lost 658 employees in the 2001 terror attacks on the United States.

Other celebrities helping out on the trading floor Wednesday included Rod Stewart and "Mandela" actor Idris Elba.
