Cemetery needs better care

To the editor: My breath, heartbeat and discouragement are being felt. Ten days before Memorial Day, I went and spoke with the Catholic Cemetery caretake....

volunteers maybe?? On a nice sunny day, volunteers could tend to plots... It's a peaceful place.

I agree with Barb. Yes, we can volunteer to do certain things but ground upkeep is not usually the families responsibility. My parents rest in a cemetery many miles from New Ulm. I went the other night to see if they had filled in my parents settling grave. Yes, they had...with clay,branches, sticks, sod chunks mixed into the dirt and more. Not what a family wants to see when visiting their loved ones.

The Lutheran cemetery has volunteers come in once a year to do annual upkeep. Maybe Barb would like to lead such an effort to do the same in the city cemetery.
