I have read this comment before about people going to the doctor to get cannabis with a fake illness, and I believe it does happen. Just as people go to the doctor to get their legally prescribed pain killers etc. There is a big difference, though, as the death rate as of 2012 is one every 19 minutes 0r 27,663 deaths per year for FDA approved drugs. Deaths from Cannabis is zero ever. I think we are picking on the wrong medicine.

I think this needs to be handled carefully and in small steps. The last thing that we want is a bill that allows people to go to the doctor and get a prescription for drugs like marijuana for a fake medical ailment.

This bill is but a small baby step made by lawmakers that are way out of step, with many people in Minnesota. Governor Dayton's position slowed the bill that really needed to be passed, to this compromised first very tiny little step. I believe his own addiction problems influenced his decision on this marijuana bill. His addiction problems should not be the yard stick for a real marijuana bill. In stating this, I still believe he is a very, very good governor.
