Dear Randy, I am Paytons father and the words you claimed to not be able to find I believe were found as God guided your thoughts and put them down. Living so far away I was not able to witness all the great things that Payton did that you described in your story. What a gift you have given us. There are no words that can take away our pain only words to comfort. The love and support Kristi and my families have received has been overwhelming. I pray for the other boys families and hope they find some sort of comfort. I need to meet you one day, shake your hand, give you a hug, or grasp your shoulder and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Rick Adams

As I waited my turn in line to see the Hadley family last night (for almost a two and half hour wait, for the line was wrapped around the halls several times at the school)it was an obvious testament showing the love and support offered to these families from the community. I find it hard to put into words the grief. But you found them Randy. Great writing. And, just for the record, I too remember your brother Dean's passing. I was a year behind him in school and remember him vividly.

Thanks for sharing your story -- it was very heartfelt and moving. I am wondering if you are related to Jody. I went to college with her in Winona in 1984 and am wondering if you are her brother or cousin.

Every parent's night mare, yet in spite of the night mare, you awaken in us immeasurable gratitude - for your words, for the lives of these young men, for the blessings of a small community, for the ability to share our faith openly. Thank you.

Thank you, Randy, for a most beautifully written tribute to the loss of these four treasured, faith-filled young men. As august stated - great last paragraph (and sentence) - so very true.

I am so sorry for your loss...just please do not believe that God is to blame...death, in any way is a part of sin...*** Bible Citations *** . 11?I have seen something further under the sun, that the swift do not always win the race, nor do the mighty win the battle, nor do the wise always have the food, nor do the intelligent always have the riches, nor do those with knowledge always have success, because time and unexpected events overtake them all. 12?For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in an evil net and birds are caught in a trap, so the sons of men are ensnared in a time of disaster, when it suddenly overtakes them. May Jehovah's love and comfort be with you during this difficult time!

So well done, Randy! There are no right words at a time like this, but the words you chose were so beautifully put together.

Great article once again, Randy. You get it. You've beautifully described why we choose to live in a small town. Although we all have heavy hearts right now there is great comfort in knowing we can count on each other to make it through these difficult times.

Your words articulate so well how many people are feeling, when the right words are so difficult to find. The mystery of life and faith....Thanks Randy!
