Yensid there are dozens of direct quotes from the people who formed this country that directly refute the notion that this country was founded as a Judeo/Christian nation however as we are limited in space here I only used a few quotes. With just a tiny amount of research you can find all of the rest. I am not anti-religion I am anti BS and when I see the old "founded on Judeo/Christian" line I will not just let it go. That lie perpetrated by the religious right needs to exposed as a lie every time it is used and I will continue to do that. Freedom of religion in this country means freedom to practice any and all religions or none at all and to say one was preferred over the others in any of our founding documents is false. ***********examiner****/article/20-quotes-from-historical-americans-against-the-u-s-being-a-christian-nation

Japanviking - you cut a line from the Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11. According to Frank Lambert, Professor of History at Purdue University, the assurances in Article 11 were "intended to allay the fears of the Muslim state by insisting that religion would not govern how the treaty was interpreted and enforced. John Adams and the Senate made clear that the pact was between two sovereign states, not between two religious powers." Thomas Jefferson also stated: "The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them." Thomas Jefferson was far too complicated a man to discuss here.

While I have not seen the movie, I have seen the trailers enough times to observe that the lead role of Jesus, who was, presumably, the most famous middle-eastern Jew that ever lived, is portrayed by a western European (Portuguese) actor and no one seems to bat an eye. But, if the movie role of a famous Native American, such as Geronimo, or of a revered African American, such as Martin Luther King, were portrayed by a European or American Caucasian actor, most people today would scream bloody murder. What's up with that?

Or, if you can stand it, go see "The Wolf of Wall Street" and test your values. There were theaters in New York City, on the upper east side, where audiences cheered approvingly.

Perhaps people should see "Twelve Years a Slave" to see how these Judeo/Christian values were employed to found our country.

Additionally there are plenty of good, wholesome movies out there to watch. Good and wholesome are not synonymous with Christian.

That is correct japanviking, the US was not founded on Christian "values" whatever that is. It's time to lay that myth to rest.

While I have no problem with you wanting people to go see and support a movie you feel deeply about I feel compelled to comment on your first sentence, “The United States was founded on Judeo/Christian ethical value principles” which is a total falsehood and misrepresentation which has been perpetrated by the religious right in this country for years and it is totally untrue. Here are just a few examples of what the founding fathers of our country said on that very subject. “The government of the United States is not in any sense founded upon the Christian religion” John Adams “Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law” Thomas Jefferson “The civil government functions with complete success by the total separation of the Church from the State.” James Madison Promote your movie by all means but do not do it with the falsehoods and bravado.
