I just checked back here. The comment was removed, as it should have been. It is still disheartening, however, that some do not agree that handicapped people are unique & special & deserve to be treated with dignity & respect.

Thank you, Fischer. He is the employee I am referring to. He is an extremely hard worker, as well as a kind & good person. It breaks my heart when comments such as newulm67's are made. Our children & grandchildren learn from us how to treat people, that everyone is unique & special. I hope newulm67's comment is not a reflection of what his children/grandchildren have learned from him.

The walmart greeters do a great job! the employee who brings in the carts works harder than half the guys I work with. It would be good if newulm67s comment was taken off. It was probably written without thinking too clearly .

I talked to the parents (friends) of one of the young gentleman who works at Walmart. I actually apologized for your insensitivity. Yes, he is handicapped somewhat, but he is able to hold his job & does it extremely well. They read your post, newulm67, & are saddened by your comment, that you don't know their son for the amazing person he is.

Walmart has given him a life which has given him self-esteem, self-respect, responsibility, & a chance to prove to the world that he can be somebody, that he can succeed at something, & that he is important.

This young man would never put you down because he appreciates life & all of its gifts, & he considers you as one of those gifts, newulm67. What he has to offer is rare & precious because it is sincere & from his heart. You have the right to be cruel & insensitive, but it is your loss not to appreciate this amazing young man. God bless.

Your comment needs to be removed, newulm67. It is one of the sickest & cruelest ones ever stated.

What "certain type of shopper" are you referring to MCW ?

People working at local businesses are being paid less per hour than the ones working at Walmart. So it would stand to reason more of them are receiving benefits than the Walmart workers. Is it ok for them to get help because the local employers pay too low a wage or is it only if it's Walmart MCW ? You should clarify that for all of us uninformed shoppers.

The only things I'll be bashing are the two people involved. Human garbage! It is no wonder they were able to immediately recognize Mr. Heeder, he has enough run-ins with the law. Fortunately for him, the officer kept a cool head; he could've been gunned down in other parts of the country.

Even the local chicken franchise has better customer service than Wal-mart.

The funny thing is that the money you save at the check out ends up costing you more in taxes to subsidize their low wages.

that is ok MCW, you don't need to shop at Wal-Mart, go spend more at Hy-Vee for the same products. enjoy that extra money you spend and I will enjoy my savings acct. Also why cant people just read the story with out bashing every thing all the time. Says a lot about a person who cant just read a story and think oh wow that was weird and move on, but instead they need to talk down to people because they obviously have low self esteem and need to make them self feel better by bashing everything around them. pretty sad.

When is the last time that you read about someone taking a cashier hostage or needing to be tazed or driving their car through the front entry of Target? Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Walmart attracts a certain type of shopper. This is why you also don't see pictures going around the internet showing odd Target, Kmart or Shopko shoppers.

It seems to me that the other major retailer in town had millions of customer's credit card\debit card information stolen. I like my chances with a few shoplifters. p.s. I shop at both so lighten up.

Amen, Grandma. Last time I checked people have the right to shop wherever they choose. I heard that a person's IQ drops by 50% when they walk out of a bar.

I commend the local police for being on their toes and spotting these crooks.

catch22 - My kids, their friends, all my friends & retired friends, relatives, neighbors, myself, etc. shop at Walmart, as well as many other places. We are all just as smart as you are, & we all can best you in one way - we don't belittle people for trying to make ends meet.

Things like this can happen anywhere, MCW, not just at Walmart.
