Do you know what else makes us unique? No outdoor waterpark/outdoor pool. Fireworks are great. But give the youth in this community something to enjoy more than 15 minutes of fireworks during the summer. But when the average age of the city council is 60 or so and the mayor belongs to the Concord Singers I expect the take care of our mentality.

Why do some groups get the blessing of the city while others are forced to do their own fundraising ?

Here's a thought. Why doesn't the city just loan the $15,000.00 to the Hermann group and let them pay it back over the next five years. Then perhaps that $15,000.00 could eventually become part of a revolving loan fund that various groups could utilize for special events. Of course this won't happen here because our local politicians suffer from the same affliction that so many others do - they think the money is free to do with whatever they please.

The civic center, field house and community center sales tax will be done in the next few years. They could fund a new indoor/outdoor aquatic center at the site of the current pool with an extension of that sales tax. The pool is getting old and will not last forever. Plus, hotels could get discounted tickets to help use it as a tourism attraction.

I can't help but laugh and wonder who these people are posting these comments. So out of touch with reality! What does new ulm need with an indoor/outdoor water park? Seriously !? The pool at Vogel was just renewed and a very long way from being too old ! Secondly, this community has an outdoor pool at Flandreau, why do we need another!? Get real! Some of these posters are just out to lunch!

The indoor pool building got a band-aid. It did not get a full overhaul.

No offense to the traditions of this town, but I agree that maybe this money should be spent somewhere else. My point: water parks, dog parks, outdoor festival, etc. are all nice items that have a much larger chance of attracting, keeping younger generations and families. Sorry but the Concord Singers, Battery, don't do much to try to bring vibrancy to this town. They have their place, but let's try to get some younger amenities as well.
