One correction: The city of Marshall, (larger than New Ulm), also does not have 4 lane highway access.

Hutchinson and Northfield are also larger than New Ulm and don't have four-lane access, and Willmar's four-lane bypass is not yet complete to St. Cloud, I believe.

Quite obvious to me that "journalreader" has not been to Hutchinson or Northfield recently.

The population of a single city is not the best measure to use to justify a four lane extension. Daily traffic counts would seem to be much more relevant. For instance, how many people live in New Ulm and commute to Mankato every day for work or education ? And how about the reverse - How many commute to New Ulm ? I have 3 co-workers who commute to New Ulm every day from Mankato. In addition, what about Courtland Nicollet and St. Peter ? I also have co-workers who live in those communities and drive to New Ulm every day. Can the same be said for Marshall or Willmar ?

Like I said, the population of a city is only one factor and not the most important one to consider when making decisions on transportation needs.

In a previous post the total regional impact was a population figure closer to 100,000. Can the same claim be made for the Marshall, Willmar, Hutchison, & Northfield ?
