Bastian is the one that wanted to write that article...FYI. And, the situation that was touched on by it is serious. Hopefully it's a wake up call to those who care about baseball in NU. The youth of today have reason's to become disinterested in activity with the accessibility of technology, double working parents, and the "time out" mentality, to name a few. It shows in the work ethics as well as the disinterest in activities at a committed level. This is far deeper than the article ever wanted to go, but it's true, they are connected.

I sense some sarcasm SE1968 :) I assume you are referring to Red's article about youth baseball where. I am sure there is some validity to Mr. Weier and Mr. Boelter's comments, but using to Red's article to express it, wow! This sounds like the former NUHS Head Wrestling Coach when he took shots at youth wrestling in the paper. All that did was put fuel on the fire.

Integrity-Agreed 100%!

Both think they are gods gift to baseball in the southern mn. Just ask either one of them!

Maybe they could ask coach Woitas to as well, but then again, he wouldn't stay on the field long enough to instruct with the umpires in this league.

Maybe Coaches Boelter and Weier could coach the team. They would go undefeated!

This is never going to fly in New Ulm. The quality college players will go to the big summer league, ala the Mankato Moondogs. The left over talent will filter down to New Ulm.

The novelty will wear off quickly and you'll see around 100 people at a game. Then you'll see the league fold.

New Ulm may be a baseball hotbed but it's too small and too old to support this long term.
