Nice to see the adults setting such a great example for the kids in our area. Kids take their cues from adults, even from amatuer baseball players and fans.

I hope none of you guys coach youth sports...

When I was a kid one of my coaches used to say "win with grace and lose with dignity". Those words are lost on today's fanatics.

55andstayingalive Just checking back but who was The Journal High School Baseball Player of the year this year. What local newspaper covered YOUR high school baseball team in this year's section and who covered your basketball team in the state tournament. Yea - there is that bias!!!

However, living in Springfield, I do subscribe to the NU Journal as I have family there, but I see the New Ulm bias from literally 30 miles away. It is just horrid. Maybe get some reporters that know what they're talking about. Like I said, this article isn't even accurate!

Sleepy Eye whine? No sir, I am sure this originated in New Ulm, bunch of dingbats. I am from Springfield, but call it how you want. New Ulm is the one that hides their teams results in the back pages when they lose. However, you did not see this call, it should not have ended the game like that, it was awful. And the way the umpires acted afterwards was not very professional/classy...Very interesting to say the least!

Many baseball games happening in the area But as usual this "regional" paper reports on "their" definition of regional. Truth be told it's just the new ulm paper

"But an umpire who will be left unnamed blew the call." Sounds like that good old Sleepy Eye whine again that comes when they lose. As the old saying goes, an apple does not fall from the tree.

Seems like a pretty patched up article. But I must say, I am neither a fan of SE or Lamberton, but just a baseball fan, and I attended this game. And this story is nowhere near accurate. There was no throwing error by Sean Mathiowetz, the play wasn't even TOO first base, it was thrown to 2nd. Where Salfer caught Mathiowetz's throw and tagged the base for the force out, but an umpire who will be left unnamed blew the call for Lamberton to win the game. Completely inaccurate article, once again by the Journal. Get the facts, don't print something you guys didn't even have a reporter at.
