This was very enjoyable, & I could relate to most all of it. As a child I was outside all the time. In the summer, I swam, played ball & lots of other games, went bike riding, went fishing, etc. In the winter I went ice skating, sledding, built snow forts & snow tunnels, etc. I do remember the outhouses, also. :(

As a child, "hot" & "cold" were just words. I don't remember it being too hot or too cold to do anything outside, the exception being the outhouses. Now, I totally appreciate air conditioning in summer & staying warm in winter. I'm not sure I could drive without air now, but I used to.

As I got older, "hot" and "cold" were no longer just words. I still love the outdoors, but I like the "just right" temps to go with it.

It would be nice if The Journal added a few more community writers such as Randy and replaced their editorial staff with entertaining writers that brighten our day. Leave the editorial comments to the MSNBC's and the Fox news stations.
