It's what they call and audit. There were actually less conservative groups targeted than there were progressive.

I like tea. I like parties. I'm a liberal.

What's the problem?

They also looked for such (conservative?) terms as "progressive" "occupy" "medical marijuana" and "healthcare legislation"...

What would you expect from an IRS official who gets her training from a Star Trek video.

Many groups were reviewed but only certain ones were delayed. Nice try though.

Many groups were flagged for review and two-thirds of them were not Tea Party groups. Emerge America that trains Democratic women to run for office was the only group actually denied status. All groups functioned while status was reviewed - because 501(c)4's are not required to apply to the IRS.

Auntydem, lets get the facts straight. The Maine Chapter of Emerge America(Emerge America is made up of state chapters) applied and was questioned which ended in denial due to thier actvities. Since other state chapters of Emerge America had 501(c)(4) status since 2006, the Maine Chapter brought the other state chapters under question. The IRS revokerd the 501(c)(4) status and all the state chapters had to reapply and were given recognition as 527 organizations.

The fact we both stated was the denial for Emerge America as a 501(4)c. Seems pretty straight.

Auntydem, good try to twist words but if you reread both of your posts you said Emerge America was denied - not true. Only the Emerge America of Maine chapter was denied which reesulted in the questioning of other Emerge America state chapters regarding their 2006 granting of 501(c)(4) status which was then revoked but were still granted 527 status. Read my post again as those are the true facts.
