Are those your words or those of apostles and prophets? Not sure if I should care what you wrote or not...

Sven has left his mark on this site just as a dog does to a fire hydrant...

Sorry, couldn't resist such a lob ball.

You can now resume your meeting of the Sven fan club.

LJG: Ah, shucks, they're just jealous of my swarthy good looks and deep baritone voice.

Not sure about the one that agreed, though.

Sven you are truly awesome. People disagree with you even when you haven't written anything. They disagree just because it's you!! You have truly left your mark on this website. They claim they don't care what you say, yet they care enough to disagree with a blank space. Wow. Three guesses as to who they were...

I like to listen to or read others opinions. That doesn't mean I agree with them, but it helps me continue to study and hopefully grow. I don't like or agree with some things you write, but I still read them. So, in that respect, I do care what you write.

For the same reason you think people should care what you say?

MT-I am again astounded at your arrogance and hubris-"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires. Susan B. anthony"

And, so it ends, with MIT wondering what he is doing.

Such insight. Such grandeur. Such malarky.

So, now, it's not a matter of "where will it end", but, rather, WHEN will it end.

I'm guessing 165 posts.

But, I think it would be easier for everyone if MIT just wrote his own bible. He's gotten a nice head-start here.

LJGibbs, some ministers possess an 8- year degree. I know priests, WELS and ELS pastors among others have these. Much of that extra 4 years of education is because they are required to be able to read scripture and understand it in its original translation, so that God's word does not get lost in translation. I know that when my pastors prepare sermons, they read the sermon text in their original language.

MT-I am sure god will sleep well tonight knowing you are the arbiter of who is christian. "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God."

MT-If your explanation os what makes one christian is absolutely true, then why is it not universally accepted by every denomination? Are you right and everyone else just wrong?

Does it matter which version of the Bible is being referenced? It is my understanding that the King James version is different than other Christian versions, perhaps a little more strict. Is one more correct? Again, not being a smart a__, really asking.

MT-if 30,000 christian denominations all interpet part of the bible in different ways who are you to judge? You clearly stated who you thought was a christian in a previous post-will you at least admit that your statement was your opinon? Or are you the sole arbiter of scripture? And I don't want to get into a bible quoting war with you but are you familiar with Romans 14:1, do you see yourself?

So every Commandment and Bible passage is open to interpretation, (i.e. Sunday being the Sabbath Day) and just because early Christians practiced something one way, we don't have to. It still leads me to wonder why the gay issue is being singled out and there are reasonable explanations for everything else in the Bible to have changed or evolved and not that.

Oh Michael, you are confusing me again, I'm sorry I don't mean to be a pain! The NT and the Ten Commandments say that we shall keep the Sabbath Holy. Many Christians do not do that, are they no longer Christians? Why is the gay issue being singled out? Why aren't Christians everywhere demanding no one work on the Sabbath because the Bible says so? I just plain don't get it.

Hi again Michael, just sitting here mulling over your comments and the thought occured to me that if God's position changed on many things in the OT and he is no longer treating adults like children, why isn't the same for the gay issue? God is evolving in the NT for everything but that? Seems odd to me.

Thank you Michael, although I still feel I don't have an answer regarding working on the Sabbath, etc. Leviticus also refers to stoning people who plant crops side by side, burning people who wear garments made of different threads, and other very severe acts, as does Exodus, that we don't abide by anymore and no one seems to care, so why the gay thing? I really don't understand all the uproar. People seem to use the Bible for what they want, not for what it was intended and that seems wrong to me too. I appreciate your explanations, but we are going to have to agree to disgree on this issue. Although, I must say all these discussions have gotten me to read my Bible!

So, LJG, what MIT is really saying is that Nixon came down from above and said, "The OT is no longer operable."

And we all believed Nixon. Right?

That stuff about touching the skin of a pig on the Sabbath could send a lot of NFL football players straight to the devil.

Not all that bad of an idea. Especially if they're Bears and Packers.

Of course, MIT would have the final say.

Michael, please answer this-the Bible says you can sell your children into slavery, anyone who works on the Sabbath shall be put to death, anyone who touches the skin of a pig on the Sabbath should be put to death, and other similar things in the Old Testament. Obviously we don't do those things anymore, so are we picking and choosing what to take from the Bible? I am not trying to be a smart a__ here, I'm really asking. I'm interested in the reason. My comment about not giving a hoot is true. I am not gay, don't want to be gay, don't want to marry another man, but I don't care if someone else does. If that makes me a non-christian in your eyes, so be it. I'm not perfect, never claimed to be. It's God I'm answering to, not you. And MCW, based on some of the posts on this website, union people are going further into h_ll than gays ;-) I'll see you there, I'm in one too. Have a great day!
