City to seek litigation to resolve Marktplatz sign

NEW ULM — The City of New Ulm is reversing its plans to sell the Marktplatz Mall sign in the City Hall parking lot and is instead seeking litigation to determine if any of the current mall owners......

First of all SEK Financial does not own any part of the mall. Danielson persinally owns lot 1 and Nurd owns lots 2 & 3. SEK is just a lender on nurds portion. Secondly, Nurd was never part of any agreement with the city and the sign. It was Bob Petroff and Danielson. Nurd has never been asked nor recieved any utility bill for the sign. The city has not nor will not discuss anything with nurd.

I would assume that The Journal is using the words "businessman" and businessmen" VERY loosely. I've heard that both parties are very shady from several people that know them and their dealings well.

Again, WHY did the city council under the advisement of our City Attorney's office ever allow a building to be legally separated into two parts while sharing utilities and not having a physical barrier? Perhaps they should be answering to the taxpayers who are now footing the bill. Conveniently, the city attorney's office is getting paid to deal with this when they should have prevented in the first place!

Really the Mall itself is a eye sore for New Ulm. And also it smells, has anyone ever checked the mole level in there ? its enough to make you sick. I won't even shop at Herbergers anymore. Smells like cat pee and the smell of mole gets me as soon as i walk in the front doors off mn street. If I didn't pay mu bill you would shut me off in a week and then make me pay a fine.

Actually, you have 30 days to pay, then you get shut off with a re-connect fee and interest. I guess rules in this town only apply to certain people. The greasier you are, the more they accommodate. Sounds right to me...

Intercity, the city was trying to keep rent-paying businesses who are innocent in this whole childish ordeal from having to close their doors. You know as well as I do that if this were a completely empty building, or Randy's Ballroom, they would have stuck to policy. Shutting down Herberger's, which would affect the whole store because there would be a lack of fire exits if the mall portion were shut down, doesn't do this city any good.
