Hwy. 14 delineators removed; Still no passing zone

May 15, 2013

The delineators on Highway 14 between Nicollet and North Mankato were removed late Tuesday afternoon after they began to fail. Motorists are reminded that the roadway remains a no-passing zone....

Guess it doesn't take long for the crazies to resume their dangerous driving habits. How unfortunate for those who respect all drivers & put safety first.

The CrotchRocket that passed me and the truck in front of me this afternoon, using the center "median" as a passing lane while there was oncoming traffic sure seemed to appreciate them being removed.

I have to agree with you MCW. One thing for sure, the intention was to keep people focused on driving, & that was a good thing. Evidently they didn't keep everyone focused, however.

I followed a pick-up-truck with a swaying trailer behind it once (very windy) &, also, semis & a few somewhat wider load transports, & none of them hit any of the delineators. So,those who were hitting them truly were not focused.

My husband (the delineator whiner) doesn't travel to Mankato often, but now he can resume taking that route instead of 68. Perhaps the annoying part of the delineators for me was listening to him. :) The four-lane upgrade definitely needs to get done.

The double lines with the 8 foot median are a good idea, they seem to be doing well. The delineators looked good on paper, but they were not practical with the winters we have here. However, I can't see how people can hit them as often as they do. That says a lot about how many bad drivers are on the road.

Nothing will be good enough until the 4-lane upgrade is complete.

What, another engineering marvel being summarily disposed of ? Oh that's right just another day for our state government.

I wonder if the extra enforcement signs will be the next to go.

It might be considered breaking news for my husband. The first time he encountered them, I was blessed to be with him. NOT!! Talk about whining.......

I, too, am glad they are gone, however, as they were quite annoying, but I handled them much better than he did. I agree that they were a waste of taxpayer's money.

No sh!t, all winter long they were laying all over... and did you know the State of MN purchased a "special" machine that is used specifically for attaching these stupid things. Waste of taxpayer money!

That is just too funny! They were stupid to begin with. But, this is breaking news? Must be really quiet in New Ulm today!!!
