Those are some great bolts! He must have dropped his pipe or he was checking out the babes at DQ. Jail was cheaper now WE are paying for medical bills.

Im no expert on the designs of light poles, but I have to agree with "Middleclassworker" something failed big time. Best wishes to those involved.

Light poles are designed to tip over upon being struck with a certain amount of force. This is to minimize the injuries to the occupants of the vehicle and preserve the pole base, which is much more difficult to replace than the pole, as it goes about 6 feet into the ground and is made of reinforced concrete.

So, what went wrong? Either the pole did not function as intended, or that is a really poorly built, unsafe car.
