My guess is the author of this editorial was born in the 1970,s and had mother and dad paying all of their bills and driving them to all of their ball games, dance classes, parties and are now pay for all of their kids bills .Never had to stand in line at the unemployment office. Or tell his wife that he lost his $86,000.00 a year, job because the company out sourced it to India, to save the companies invertors money. Then be told at 55 you’re too old to compete with the collage entry level 20 year olds who will do the work for $38,000.00. Then you get a job for $10.00 hour and your wife gets her first job ever for $32,000.00, a year, and count yourself lucky because you sold the house before bank foreclosed. Now enjoy the good life living on S.S. because the market went bust in 2008. I Thank God each day for my wife, without her income I don’t know if would be. Next time look in the mirror before you throw stones, or comment on senior suicide rates. Remember your time is coming.

How about instead of speculating that it's the baby boomers fault, the author do a little research. It only took me a 5 second google search to find a high-profile study that shows that in fact suicide rates ALWAYS rise during times of economic hardship. In other words, it has nothing to do with how the baby boomers were raised somehow differently. Article: ***********nytimes****/2011/04/15/health/research/15suicide.html?_r=0

No idea why the Journal's web site put all those stars in my link. Those stars should say "www . nytimes . com" (you'll have to manually remove the spaces)....
