Actually, the word "taken" is in the title of the article. However, the word "taken" is almost always used when reporting the number of deer shot & claimed in certain areas. This deer was shot & left to die, a cruel & inhumane act. I hope the culprit(s) get caught & pay dearly.

yunosmart where did you read that? it states he was KILLED not "taken". Yes poaching a tame animal in a pen is horrible enough but from what i hear he also suffered because he bled to death (so it wasn't even a clean kill) AND what's worse is this heartless killer didn't even take the deer as a "trophy" or food or whatever....Hunting makes me sick in and of itself but POACHING is a whole other story.....and then to let Dex suffer and lay there like that?

This is ridiculous. I agree. Public lashings, or, find them, put them in a cage, and all Bockfest visitors can walk by and do whatever they want to them.

So if the deer was taken how do they know if it was killed or just stolen?

I remember this happening many years ago. Three people were caught killing all the deer in the pen.Them people still live in New Ulm.

It's incidents like this that make me wish that we still used public lashings as a form of punishment.

What kind of idiot would find sport in killing a fenced in animal. Needless to say it is out of season. But why take away the beauty of that animal that so many enjoyed? Selfish.
