Well said, Pinkie. I think we do not realize the high caliber of pastor St. Mary's has. He's not out to just be friends with as many people as possible (especially for financial or other such reasons), and he's not out to win a popularity contest. Rather, I think he's doing his best to discern God's will and - what many others cannot do for lack of courage and integrity - follow through.

catch22 I think your comment about Msgr being a visitor is ridiculous. Msgr. was sent here to guide this parish and I believe he is doing a great job. You are outright nasty with your comments. First of all I think that some people from the parish and the city are acting like kids fighting over this. This should have been done many years ago. The building is costing St. St. Mary's money and was an awful sight. The rest of the buildings have been kept up. Maybe if this would have been kept up many years ago we would not have had the problem. You can not let a building deteriate and then expect to reuse it . The costs would be very expensive. In my opinion I believe the Administrative Council and Msgr. have made a wise decision. That is why we have councils. I would not want their job. In another note the people of Sleepy Eye made their decision of not liking Msgr. before he even got here or even knowing him. They did not give him a chance before he moved to Sleepy Eye. Lets be Christian

Catch22- sorry. I didn't mean to sound condescending. I apologize. I just Hope everyone in our parish, no matter our opinions, can rise above this. We have a great parish and school.

More peace and love from the church going crowd, and all this over an old building. John Lennon may have been on to something when he said, "imagine no religion"

sleepyeye1: I know "exactly" where the cross is, do you? My seven generations have contributed to St Mary's parish through labor, large monetary donations and service to our parish. I do not feel the need to ask for forgiveness, for I speak to Him daily through prayers. I have even prayed for YOU. Perhaps you should pray more during Lent to ask forgiveness? I do not think you have the right to tell ME to ask for forgiveness. Oh, I get it, you are more godly. Forgive me!

Catch22: I understand how there could be hurt and disappointment, but ultimately, for what does our parish and Church stand for? In faith we believe in the instruments God uses for His Church here on earth, and no matter what, they are His instruments. If every parish were to act only according to its "members" (and in this case not even a majority) over the God-given authority, we risk separating ourselves from the Church. We owe gratitude and support to Monsignor even when we don't get what we want. Blessings be upon him and St. Mary's!

Catch22 - Wow - Msgr is but a visitor in our parish who has overstayed his welcome? Again.. Wow - your seven generations has missed something about the purpose of faith and religion. May this Lent find you blessings and the real truth of the message we are hearing every Sunday - Ask for forgiveness. Find the cross.

"St Mary's Convent Demolished a Parish Destroyed"....that should be your title. Msgr. Eugene Lozinski is but a visitor in our parish and a visitor who has overstayed his welcome. He claims that our parish belongs to the Diocese, I understand the basics of that statement. But, our parish is supported by its members. Seven generations of my family have been members and now most of us are attending mass at other parishes (and giving in their collection baskets) because of Msgr. When he leaves many of our "flock" will return to their "rightfull" church. The church that many have supported all their lives. How can one man come in to a parish and cause such discord? It is time for you to move on Msgr. I hear there is an opening in Rome...maybe you should apply.
