Glad it failed. What are our young people suppose to do on weekends if there are no parties with booze. It's part of the growing up process.

Thank you City of New Ulm City Council for having such an ordinance on the books a long time ago. I knew this ordinance would be a tough sale for the "rural county" citizens. Even when I was in my high school years it always seemed "the party" was at someone's farm and the property owners (parents) were fully aware of it but for some reason just chose to look the other way. I think we have some county board members to worried about re-election rather then doing the right thing!

I figures being that at the public high school they have posters up that was funded by $ that should have gone to new books or anything but that saying things like "80% of students at NUHS have not consumed alcohol in the past 30 days." Now if you think about it that's 1 in 5 kids have drank in the past month. Are you kidding me - I knew it was a problem, but I guess it's true no one does care. That's why in 10 years time the # of kids per grade have dropped by 100 students per grade because people don't want to deal with the B.S. anymore.

I'll drink to that! Law Enforcement already has many laws they can use. Social host is another way to take away the freedoms of the people.

Thank god the county has the foresight to push back on further government control of our lives. Seriously people, do you really want someone else telling you how to conduct you life? I don't need the governmnent to give me an "out" - take some god*****accountability to do the right thing yourself.

I'm guessing that Old Milwaukee's Best and Boone's Farm paid off the county commissioners.

FYI northeaglepride, those posters were funded by an outside group. Not one penny of district money went towards them. But thanks for noticing them. I think it's nice to celebrate students who are making good choices.

Doesnt matter if theres a law or not when the officers own kids are drinking at a party, they just get phone call from daddy before the cops come. Then he gets elected Sherrif. How about enforcing the laws that you already have and quit trying to make new ones to collect more money for the coffers.

Either way keepitcivil- if you look at the posters the one said that 1 in 5 students haven't been on drugs in the past year times 9-12 at shooting low 110 kids per grade = almost 90 kids at NUHS have been on drugs in the past year - at least the ones that admited to it and 90+ that had been drinking in the past month - MilfordFarmer- Trust me that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to corruption in the area's law enforcement

I read the comments from time to time and find most of them ignorant and foolish. Bottom line, if you don't like New Ulm or Brown County, MOVE! Otherwise you can always try to improve it, instead of talking stupid and hiding on this page. Just a thought.

Milford Farmer how about taking money out of your subsidy coffer? Typical bitter, whiny farmer...nothing is good enough...not even public safety. I'll give you some "free" advice, like your subsidy check, dress smart if your going to be dumb.

This county board is the biggest bunch of cowards ever elected to office. Nobody seconds a resolution so there is no record of a discussion or a vote. If you oppose at least be part of the discussiion and have the courage to vote your conscious on it. Wimps. How can anybody in this county have an once of respect for these guys. If you didn't like the ordinace at least go on record as to why.

They had no problem getting a second when they voted for raises for themselves.
