As a den mother for cub scouts thirty some years ago, I toured historical buildings & homes in local communities with my group. At their young age, they had fun, but I'm sure they truly couldn't comprehended the value of that history.
Since that time, the "steamrollers" have taken out some of that history. As the author stated, I remember the bustling storefronts, the farm sites, & the nuns teaching school. It makes me sad, but I do stay calm & carry on. America does change, & we have to change with it.
My grown kids now appreciate knowing about what has been lost, & I'm working with my young grandkids. They are more interested in knowing things like I only enjoyed a black & white TV with one channel & had to walk several blocks to school. They, also, think it's cool that Grandpa & I attended a few Viking games in our snowmobile suits in the old stadium. The "steamrollers" can get to the structures, but they can't destroy a
