Quist is forward-thinking

February 5, 2013

To the editor: There are those who think about what is best for the present and there are those who think about what is best for the future. I have known Allen Quist most of my life....

So Allen Quist is a good farmer. I'll give him that. That means nothing in St. Paul, though. Does he know anything about creating jobs that people can call a career? Does he know anything about creating a 4-lane highway? Does he know anything about working families? Doubtful.

Forward thinking? Like thinking men are "genetically predisposed" to lead women? Forward thinking like going into an adult bookstore in Mankato in disguise? Forward thinking like comparing a gay support group to the KKK? If you think this reflects "forward thinking" you are sadly mistaken.

The $500,000 he received in govt. subsidies probably helped pay for the grass.

Forward? That was Obama's campaign slogan, and Republicans called it socialist and communist. They have such short memories.

Back to the 1950's GOP party, forward is backward to them. But they can't seem to understand that anymore.Just look into your "Tea",GOP.

If Quist is forward, I would hate to see what backwards looks like.

He believes that man and dinosaurs coexisted until the 12th century.

I personally really don't care what Mr. Quist's feelings are on Dinosaurs. What concerns me is his failure to grow the economy of Southern Minnesota the last time he was in the legislature. What concerns me is his disconnect with the working class of this state. He will do nothing to grow jobs and economic development in Southern Minnesota. Look at all the work that Terry Morrow, Kathy Sheran, etc. have done just across the river. Yet, New Ulm continues to sit stagnant, largely because of the two representatives that have no interest in the economic future of New Ulm.

I think the last time the GOP was forward thinking is when Lincoln freed the slaves.
