St. Mary’s convent decision not a hasty one

January 30, 2013

To the editor: I’m not sure the newspaper is a good place to debate parish matters, but that seems to have occurred....

I was kidding about Randy. I wouldn't let him own a dog house.

The letter to the editor that appeared first on this issue said there was a local group willing to pay for renovations and is willing to support the building. If that is true there is no expense to St. Mary's church. It would be a disgrace to bulldoze over such a sturdy well built building when there are people who are willing to step up.

Luckily, most people have learned their lesson from New Ulm and would be smart enough to run screaming as fast as they can from Mr Danielson!!

Maybe you guys can sell it to Randy Danielson. He's good with old buildings.

Excellently written, Randy. I was very sorry to see here and there that Monsignor Lozinski was being criticized unjustly as though he alone considered demolishing the convent. That's just not an objective assessment of the situation. Maybe it would also help us to understand what a difficult role he has. God bless him and all who serve the parish in the decisions that need to be made!
