CHS Commencement Ceremony
To the Editor:
It was a joy to be part of the commencement exercises for the Cathedral High School graduating class of 2018 hosted this past Sunday at the Church of St. Mary’s. From among the many prayers and speeches by our school officials, the words offered by Mrs. Anne Moeller, a much appreciated teacher at CHS and invited speaker for the ceremony, were particularly touching and inspiring.
The Journal remarked (Monday, May 21) on some of the practical wisdom shared by Mrs. Moeller; yet, it is especially the spiritual counsel she offered to our senior students that captures the heart of the Catholic education that NUACS strives to offer. Mrs. Moeller reminded our seniors that their lives are no mistake, they are each here for a purpose and they are the product of a loving and creating Father whose eternal Son became man and died for them and each of us. She then invited them to follow Him and share His love as they go out into the world. Mrs. Moeller offered inspiring words and a fitting example of this great love that ought to continue to define our Catholic education here at NUACS. It was beautiful to hear one of our teachers share her love of Jesus and English with all of us!
Our whole community expresses its gratitude to Mrs. Moeller for her moving words and to all the speakers, as they radiated the reason I send my children to NUACS. We hope that our seniors — and all of us — will take them to heart and remember that the true measure of our lives, and of our life long learning, is in Jesus.
