Where are weather doomsday forecasters?

To the editor:

Letter writers who subscribe to catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW) have been silent for a few weeks. So far this month local temperatures have been about 20 degrees Fahrenheit below normal, with record snowfall and more predicted this week. Probably not a good time to promote their decades into the future apocalyptic scenarios, unless they change to trying to scare us about another Ice Age.

Yes that is weather, not climate, and weather in Minnesota does not tell us much about world wide climate change. However, scientists have computed the climate impact of every nation fulfilling every Paris Agreement promise would result in a global temperature reduction of 0.086 degrees Fahrenheit by 2100. That helps me better understand human influence on weather, therefore climate, is miniscule.

I am not so naíve to think alarmists and their political ideology — beginning with Al Gore’s 2006 “Inconvenient Truth” and before — will go away. But I can hope for a lull in their doomsday forecasts about what will happen long after most of them are gone from this Earth.
