Response to letters

To the editor:

Here is my response to several letters to the editor.

Letter #1: Entitled “Gun Crazy.” This person from New Ulm said one small suggestion, anyone who is madder than hell should not be permitted to own a gun. Sounds to me like that person wants to take my guns away!

Letter #2: Entitled “Are we mad enough.” The writer says God has never been banned from public schools. I say God has been banned from public schools, not by the government, but by liberal teachers, the teachers union, by school administration, and liberal school boards because “someone may be offended.” In a nearby school several years ago, a Halloween party was cancelled because “it may offend someone.”

Letter #3: Written by some person as letter #2 titled “More Double Standards.” I read that letter at least 5 or 6 times and I don’t really see any double standards, all it is a liberal letter bashing the NRA and me. I am an NRA member so she says ” I understand where some of that anger and misinformation comes from .” I don’t believe I have any misinformation. Most of my beliefs I have had for 40 or 50 years. She goes on to say “I bet he got the same phone call after the CNN forum with the Parkland students from the NRA, and she is wrong. I called the NRA before the CNN forum and told them to up my membership by two years and that will make me a member until 2025, when I will be 87 years old, and hopefully I will be on the right side of the sod, writing some letters to the editor! She also says Democrats and liberals hunt, shoot for sport and want to protect their homes and families. I would like to ask her when they go hunting, shooting for sport, does their gun take them to do their hunting and sport shooting or do they take their gun for hunting and sport shooting? Same holds true for the shooting at Parkland — the gun didn’t go by itself, the gun was taken by a violent and evil person, wanting to kill. He had to pull the trigger. He had a prearranged plan and knew exactly what he wanted to do. That’s why I say we don’t have a gun problem, we have a violent and evil person problem and there are many causes for it. You can tell a liberal Democrat but you can’t tell them much. You probably would get the same affect talking to a box of rocks.

This is my opinion and I’m sticking to it.
