Put Popcorn Wagon in Parade

To the editor:

In just a short while, Bavarian Blast will showcase New Ulm’s biggest summer festival. One of the many highlights of The Blast occurs on Sunday, that being the Parade. As usual, New Ulm will be well represented by the likes of the New Ulm Battery, Schell’s Brewery, Concord Singers, Turner Hall, New Ulm Fire Department, along with other New Ulm entries. However, I feel that one piece that represents New Ulm is missing: the Popcorn Wagon.

Why is this piece of history not included in parades so the many who see the parade can view it? Instead, it’s holed up in the Brown County Historical Society Museum. It could be placed on a low flat bed trailer and pulled along the parade route. Again I ask, can anyone tell me why this 100+-year-old piece of New Ulm history not in the parade?
