Current political situation

To the editor:

According to Harvard Prof. Dershowitz President Trump is well within his constitutional rights to direct his FBI director to either pursue or drop an investigation: “Throughout American history presidents, including President Obama, have directed (not merely requested) the Justice Department to investigate, prosecute (or not prosecute) specific individuals or categories of individuals,” Dershowitz wrote. “I think this puts an end to any claim that President Trump obstructed justice. You can’t obstruct justice by simply exercising your power under the Constitution,” he added.

In spite of this, former FBI Director Comey takes issue with President Trump, expressing concern about Gen. Flynn but he notified no one, at the time, when Att. Gen. Lynch directed him to call the Clinton email investigation a “matter,” something that would favor Sec. Clinton politically during the presidential campaign. Comey did admit that President Trump told the truth when he wrote that the former FBI Director told him three times he was not under investigation in the Russia meddling probe and also admitted that Trump twice encouraged him to get to the bottom of the Russian meddling issue. Time will tell if Comey is a hero or a villain; he will probably end up a mix of both?

The Liberal/Progressive political and Main Stream Media (MSM) hysterics seem determined to destroy Trump before he gets his team completely in place. Once the President accomplishes this Sec. Clinton, some members of the former Obama administration and certain security organization leakers will be vulnerable for their pre- and post-election actions. The new FBI director will probably break the logjam that would have remained in place had Sec. Clinton won. Instead of unsourced leaks dominating the nation’s political discussion we will shortly be discussing actual facts.

President Trump’s first international trip demonstrated conclusively what he and his team can accomplish when not burdened by the hysterical class in the US. The red carpet went out for President Trump and almost every Middle East leader of consequence was there to meet and greet the president of the US on his arrival in Saudi Arabia on his first international trip. Contrast this with how President Obama was humiliated by some foreign leaders and on one occasion his host country would not provide a ramp for deplaning from Air Force One, forcing President Obama to deplane through the lower level of the plane. Also, who can forget the deep bow of subservience President Obama gave the Saudi leader on their initial meeting. There is definitely a new sheriff in town and the US is back!
