Prochniak for Auditor-Treasurer

In the race for the Brown County Auditor-Treasurer, the difference in experience between the two candidates is telling.

Jean Prochniak, the incumbent Auditor-Treasurer, has been working in the office for the past 38 years. She was elected to the position four years ago after assisting Marlin Helget in the office for three decades.

Paul Wesselman has 20 years of experience as a financial advisor, and has been working in the Brown County administration in the Maintenance Department, working with billings and assisting with the budget.

During Prochniak’s term as Auditor-Treasurer the office has run smoothly and efficiently. Prochniak has been on top of any changes in election law, state tax policy and all the other duties of the office besides collecting and managing the county’s revenues.

The depth of Prochniak’s knowledge and experience earns her The Journal’s endorsement for the Auditor-Treasurer’s position. During the League of Women Voter’s forum on Wednesday, Wesselman frequently had to answer that he “would have to do the job” for a while before he could say how he would handle this or that situation. Prochniak has been doing the job, and doing it well. She will continue to do it well for the citizens of Brown County if returned to office.
