Our View: At the least, Trump is trying to save jobs

Left-wing politicians and their supporters in some of the news media have become so used to employing a double standard that they seem to be blind to how many voters have caught on. Even after Democrat Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election to Donald Trump, the practice has proceeded.

Trump’s announcement last week that he has kept one campaign promise, to persuade Carrier Corp. to retain a plant in Indiana rather than moving production to Mexico, is an example.

It is just awful that government, by providing Carrier about $7 million in subsidies is “picking winners and losers” in the private sector, liberals groused.

Really? What about the billions of dollars in subsidies President Barack Obama lavished on the solar and wind power industries — while wrecking the coal industry?

Of course, it would be nice if government did not meddle in the private sector. At least Trump did it to save American jobs, not to destroy them in the fossil fuels industry.
