Eagle Update: Happenings at New Ulm High School
New Ulm High School continues to be extremely active this year. Academics will always be our first priority. We continue to increase programming to meet student needs. With the addition of College Courses, English/ Language Arts and Theater Courses, as well as Career and Technical Courses, District 88 has shown a strong commitment to meeting all student’s post-high school needs.
In an effort to provide opportunities for our community to contribute to academic growth, there has been an increase focus with community engagement. Teachers are encouraged to bring businesses and industry into the school setting, as well as bring the students out into the community. We believe this will show students the many opportunities the City of New Ulm, and the surrounding areas, have to offer graduating students.
Engagement with our local businesses and industry also provide opportunities for them to see the programming we offer within the school, be a part of the educational process and to see what awesome students we have within the school.
In addition to our commitment to the academic growth of our students, we have also committed to increasing the use of our facilities. Recently we held the first high school musical in the new high school auditorium. The district has committed resources to having a fall high school musical and spring play every year, rather than every other year.
With the new facilities, we have committed to hosting state and regional events. These events bring in people and resources to our community. This year alone we have hosted the following events: section volleyball, section football, and three state quarterfinal football games. In addition, we will be hosting several fine arts events, representing different competitive sections. As we continue to grow as a school and a community partner, New Ulm High School wants our students, parents, and community to know we are committed to making New Ulm High School a school we can all be proud of.
