Brown County Browser: Payment options for property taxes

Tax Statements were mailed to landowners at the end of March, with the first half due on May 15, 2017. We would like to remind you of payment options that we offer for tax payments;

Direct Payment Plan – This is the preferred method for property tax payments. Payments for taxes can be automatically debited from your checking or savings account on the due date or on a modified quarterly payment plan.

Drop Box – For your convenience a drop box is located in the Law Enforcement Center parking lot off of the Washington Street entrance.

In Person Payments – Tax payments can be delivered to the A-T office — 15 South Washington or at the License Bureau — 1900 North Franklin Street during the normal business hours.

Automatic Bill Pay – You can set Brown County as an authorized vendor with your local bank. Set the transaction for the due dates and you are done!

Online Payment – Brown County now offers debit and credit card acceptance online.

We work hard at the county level to provide tax payment options that allow taxpayers convenience in meeting their real estate tax obligations and avoid penalties for late payments. Questions on any of these options can be addressed by the Auditor-Treasurer’s staff or by checking out our website at: http://www.co.brown.mn.us/property-taxation/property-taxes-payment-options

Elections

Brown County continues to monitor election legislation at the State level. Legislation has been introduced to provide a grant program for counties to replace aging election equipment. If approved, it is our goal to make conservative decisions for the purchase of our election hardware/software. We hope to include our local precincts in these discussions as we move forward.

Drainage

The County Commissioners authorized the redetermination of benefits on a number of drainage systems in Brown County. Reminder: M.S. 103E.061 allows the viewers and engineers access to the property to make a survey, locate a drain, examine the property, or estimate the benefits and damages.
