SLEEPY EYE — Linus S. Braun, age 86, of rural Sleepy Eye died on Dec. 9, 2018, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m..

Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. The clergy will be Msgr. Eugene Lozinski. Military Honors provided by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye at a later date.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Linus was born on Oct. 15, 1932 in New Ulm to Aloys & Loretta (Hoffmann) Braun. He attended District 39 Country School and St. Mary’s School. After his schooling he farmed with his father and brothers. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and was stationed in Germany for 18 months as a photographer in the Signal Corps. He got interested in travel while in Europe and enjoyed it all his life. He married Lois Pelzel on Oct. 4, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. They moved to a farm in the Evan area and still reside there. He enjoyed wood working but flying was his passion. He earned his Pilot’s License in 1955 and flew his airplane until he was 83. Linus enjoyed going up in the evening and looking around to how the crops were coming along. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lois of rural Sleepy Eye; daughter: Janette Moldan of New Ulm, her children, Jeff (Jen) of New Ulm, Jason (Kirsten) of Maple Grove, Jon (Becky) of New Ulm, Joe of New Ulm; son: David (Olesya) of Le Sueur, their children, Kayla Hopkins and Kiera (Tyler) Bridley of Webster, WI, Kelly (Brandon) Nelson of Clear Lake, WI, Deana and Elizabeth of Le Sueur; step-daughter, Marta Hladysh of Le Sueur; daughter, Debra of Arlington, TX, her children, Jon Brown of Fort Worth, TX and Erin Brown of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law, Anna Braun of Louisville, KY, her children, Nick of Denver, CO and Cassandra of Louisville, KY; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Gen Berberich of Sleepy Eye and many relatives and friends in the area. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas, a daughter, Carol, parents Aloys and Loretta Braun and brothers, Victor, Cletus, Wendelin, Dennis and Melvin.
