GIBBON — Marvel Vorwerk, 96 of Gibbon died Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Fairfax Community Home in Fairfax.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 14 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township, rural Gibbon with Pastor Benjamin Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

Marvel is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Ben) Harris of Tomball, Texas; a son, John (Patricia) Vowerk of Lakewood, Colorado; grandchildren, Mark (Natalie) Harris and Rachel Harris; step grandchildren, Brett (Ginny) Wright and Brian (Lisa) Wright; and by great-grandchildren, Devon and Sheridan Harris, Taryn and Trystan Wright.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elton Vorwerk; two sons in infancy; sisters Myrtle Meyer and Lyla Baur; and her brother Roman Jaus.
Marvel Mae Jaus was born May 26, 1922 in New Ulm to Martin and Hannah (Lieske) Jaus. She was united in marriage to Elton Vowerk on June 6, 1944 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Moltke Township. After marriage they farmed in Moltke Township where she was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. She enjoyed traveling, making sausage with her husband and she was a master gardener.
Marvel was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
