NEW ULM — Darren J. Grewe, age 43, of New Ulm, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis with his family by his side.

Funeral service will be 11 am Friday, May 18, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor David Nissen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm, and will be held for one hour prior to the time of service at church on Friday.

Darren is survived by his mother, Karen Grewe of New Ulm; his brothers, Dan (Alisa) Grewe of Falcon Heights, Darrick (Kristen Musich) Grewe of Golden Valley, Daylen Grewe of Mankato; his nieces and nephews, Seth, Lucas, Ian, Heather, Katelyn, Samantha and Trisha; and his aunts & uncles, Phyllis and Ron Kipp, and Kathryn & John Stahl.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fredrick in 2015; his grandparents Doyle and Laura Stemen, and Waldemar and Ruth Grewe; his aunts, Sharon Plum and Bette Kuss; and his uncles, Bob Plum and Bob Kelly.

Darren John Grewe was born on March 19, 1975 in New Ulm to Fredrick & Karen (Stemen) Grewe. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Darren was active in the Boy Scouts with Troop 25 and received his Eagle Scout. He participated in many activities such as camping trips to various locations throughout the state and nation. Darren attended New Ulm Public Schools and graduated in 1995. He then worked at Kraft for ten years, and then at 3M until the present time.

Darren had many hobbies including Twisty puzzles, collecting Monopoly Games, cards, and spending time with his worldwide friends online. He also enjoyed going on trips with his brothers and had traveled to Hawaii, Japan, Las Vegas, Toronto, Washington D.C., and Miami. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, his nieces and nephews, and with his best friend, Todd (Sara) Christiansen and their kids Brady and Jase.
