Gary D. Gruber

Gary David Gruber, 67, of Zimmerman, MN passed away April 10, 2018 surrounded by countless members of his family who will deeply miss his words of wisdom, witty humor and kind heart. His greatest joys in life were working, spending time with family, hunting up north and traveling with his wife Patricia.

Gary was born and raised in New Ulm, MN. After graduating from New Ulm High School, Gary proudly volunteered for the United States Army. A decorated Vietnam War veteran, he served in the 101st Airborne Division and in Company D, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry of the Americal Division’s 11th Light Infantry Brigade. While serving, he earned 2 Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for bravery and heroism in action.

Gary loved his work as a Senior Engineering Specialist and his coworkers at WSB & Associates, Inc. Prior to that he worked as a land surveyor for John Oliver and Associates.

Gary is survived by his loving wife and their children Tami (Vance), Derick (Todd), Jessica (Steve), Jonathan (Melissa), Melanie (Desmond), Kelsey (Craig) along with his most precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Judy (Roger Besemer), Jane (Ken Ballard), Cheryl Gordon and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Stanley W. Gruber and mother Lois M. Gruber.

A celebration of life will be held at Lakewood Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55408 on April 23, 2018 at 2 p.m. Memorials can be mailed to P.O. Box 8, Zimmerman, MN 55398.
