Stanley “Stan” Linus Beck

NEW ULM — Stanley “Stan” Linus Beck, age 78 of New Ulm died peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2018 at the Oak Hills Living Center after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-South Chapel in New Ulm. Father Garrett Ahlers will officiate the service, and burial will follow in the Soldiers Rest Section of the New Ulm City Cemetery in New Ulm where the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard will provide full military honors. A reception will be held at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-South Chapel in New Ulm after the committal service.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Stan is survived by his sister, Sharon (Galen) Bode of Essig; his uncle and aunt, Mike and Lillian Fruhwirth of New Ulm; niece, nephew, numerous cousins, and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; many aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends.

Stanley Linus Beck was born January 16, 1940 in Bernadotte Township to Edgar and Helen (Fruhwirth) Beck. He was a 1959 graduate from the New Ulm High School. Stan served in the U. S. Army from 1963-1965 where he was stationed in Germany. Soon after his time in the service Stan started his career with Kraft Foods in New Ulm where he worked until his retirement in 1998. For pleasure Stan dearly enjoyed taking in the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and biking the trails of northern Minnesota. He was a proud lifetime member of the NRA. Stan was also a talented woodworker creating numerous creative wood carvings over the years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him best. Blessed be his memory.
