Roland William Altmann
Roland William Altmann, age 90, was called home on March 5th, 2018. By his side in their house in Fort Mohave, Arizona was his wife of 35 plus years, Bernice Altmann.
Roland was born June 22, 1927 to Amelia (Bastian) Altmann and Herbert Altmann in West Newton Township, Minnesota. He was raised on the original homestead farm just north of St. George Minnesota and attended school at Saint George. He then went on to graduate from The University of Minnesota at the top of his class. Upon his graduation he accepted a job with Boeing. Roland had an incredibly accomplished career with Boeing, working on the Minute Man Missile, Apollo Projects, B2 Bomber and the 747 Aircraft just to name a few. He also oversaw several off shore oil rig projects around the world.
He and Bernice met in 1974 and later married in London, England. When the time was right, they returned to Seattle and retired, enjoying their summers there overlooking Puget Sound. They also enjoyed traveling during the winters. He truly loved his family and friends. He will be missed beyond words. In his own words “it’s never goodbye, just until next time”.
Roland is survived by his wife, 2 step daughters Doris Kuhn, Kay Mayes, 3 grandchildren Michelle (Charles) Kennedy, Michael Downing, Charles (Margarita) Delph, 3 Great grandchildren Paige Kennedy, Kylie Kennedy, Samantha Kennedy, and 2 great-great grand kids, Kinley Kate and Breckin William. Sister Ruth (Bill) McNamara and many nieces and nephews. He was proceed in death by his parents, Amelia and Herbert Altmann, brother Earl and sister in law Beverly Altmann and many beloved and cherished friends.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date so family and friends can all attend.
