Shirley Marks

SPRINGFIELD — Shirley Marks, age 85 of Springfield, died Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Springfield.

Service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Springfield on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Pastor Josh Doughty.

Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Shirley Ann Marks was born January 1, 1933, in Lamberton, MN to Cecil and LaMira (Gumto) Hollingsworth. She was united in marriage to Curt Marks on March 10, 1952, at the Lamberton Evangelical Lutheran Church. Shirley worked as a TMA at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield for 25 years. She and Curt enjoyed their trips to northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan to see the fall colors. She was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading Danielle Steele novels. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments and especially enjoyed watching their ball games.

She is survived by husband Curt; children- Shari and husband Chuck Baumann of Springfield, Steve and wife Diane Marks of Springfield, Kathy and husband Lynn Tessmer of Sleepy Eye, and Rhonda and husband Larry Mickelson of Leavenworth; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild due in July; daughter-in-law Lynn Marks of Sleepy Eye; and sister Betty Mariner of Summerville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Dean; and brother Raymond Hollingsworth.
