MADELIA — Carri Caye Gustafson, age 59, of Madelia, MN, died unexpectedly on December 19, 2017, in Mesa, AZ.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. Burial will follow at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Visitation will continue on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Carri is survived by her daughters, Rainy (Derek) Potter of Rochester, Aryn Gustafson (Josh Henry) of Madelia, Carly Gustafson (Dave Reed) of Madelia; grandchildren Autumn Sander, Aubrey and Olivia Dick, Ivan Henry, Caden and Owen McMullen; and special friend Les Pietsch of Madelia.

She is proceeded in death by her son, Ian; mother, Lillian Oachs; and grandson, Allan.

Carri Caye (Oachs) Gustafson was born on March 25, 1958 in New Ulm, MN, daughter of Lillian Oachs. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1976. She was united in marriage to Chuck Gustafson in 1983. This marriage was blessed with three children, Rainy, Aryn and Carly. She worked many years in retail at Hanska Furniture, Herberger’s in New Ulm and Kmart in New Ulm. For the last eight years she was doing what she loved most, cooking at the Madelia Community Hospital.

Carri enjoyed motorcycle rides, car shows, watching the Minnesota Vikings, antiquing, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren. Carri’s sense of humor and love for life will be missed by many.
