Sylvia “Ardyce” Reinhart

NEW ULM — Sylvia “Ardyce” Reinhart, age 89, of New Ulm died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. Pastor Sarah Taylor will officiate and burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm, and continue from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Ardyce is survived by her children, De Anne Reinhart and Jonathan (Linda Wellmann) Reinhart; sister, Lynette (Pat) Mathews; brother, Don (Eunice) Quam and many more family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; her sisters, Quidelle (Ellsworth) Melzer, Helen (Eddie) Byro and her nephew Chuck Melzer.

Sylvia Ardyce Quam was born December 15, 1927 in Hanska to Ole and Alma (Jorgenson) Quam. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Before marriage she worked as a teacher for District #54 in a one room school house. She married Chester Reinhart on December 15, 1951 at the Lake Hanska Church. After marriage she and her husband Chester farmed and raised a family together on the family farm in Cambria Township. She was an active member of the Linden Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and served on many different boards and groups within the church. Ardyce was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening and loved to spend time with her family.
